News Wire

.

01.09.2018- At approximately 6:30 AM, after a night of heavy rain, the Upper Sunset Debris Basin in Deer Canyon overflowed, causing mud and rubble to storm down Country Club Drive. Homes, cars, and RVs were damaged, but no injuries were reported. The Upper Sunset Debris Basin (circa 1929), which was under construction for expansion at the time, has since been deemed structurally intact and functioning by L.A. County officials. The reason for the overflow was a higher than normal collection of debris and sediment, brought on by the La Tuna Canyon fire, which scorched the hillside above in September of last year. The process of clean up has begun, and the buzz of trucks, shovels, and stories by homeowners can be heard echoing throughout the canyon.
